Dental pathology

The main goal of this branch of dentistry is to study caries and its treatment because caries is one of the most common teeth disease. Caries is a disease that attacks the hard dental substance, starting with the enamel and than it spreads to the dentin and the cement. The consequences of these disease are softening of the hard dental substance, and if there’s no treatment in due time that will lead to:

  • Pulp infection
  • Root infection
  • Tooth loss

Fillings

In filling teeth, the decayed material is completely removed (by drilling) and replaced with filling. Contemporary stomatology follows today’s modern technology which offers wide range of quality restorative materials.

The determination of the staff of Stomadent Vital private office is to offer high quality aesthetic restoration as well as great functionality of the material. Our goal is to reach even the most demanding patients and to send them off satisfied with beautiful and healthy smiles.

One to two decades ago most commonly used dental filling was the metallic filling (amalgam) and the aesthetic demands of the patients were very disappointing, but the contemporary materials meet those demands with great results even beyond their expectations.

In our dental private office we have chosen to work only with “white” fillings. You may ask: “Why not metallic fillings”?

First, the amalgam filling consists of mercury, among other substances. Mercury is toxic and not only for the pulp of the teeth but also for the whole body especially kidneys and liver.
Second, the mercury after some time evaporates and the tooth obtains dark color.
Third, our work experience proves that in more than 80% of the cases under the amalgam filling there can be:
  • A secondary cavity
  • An infection of the pulp (nerve) of the tooth i.e. pulpitis
  • Or a spontaneous necroses of the pulp
Although some dentists argue that the amalgam fillings are the longest lasting, practice proves the opposite. All of this is a result of the bad characteristics of the amalgam such as the high percentage of contraction, which leads to weak adhesion of the amalgam filling to the tooth.
Before                                   After

That's why we recommend leave the amalgam in the past where it belongs, and look to the future and the advantages of the new and better materials.

How to chose the right material for white fillings

Their well-known publicity in aesthetic dentistry and the advantages that white fillings offer, which can be truly accomplished, has allowed many patients to expect their restorations to be very much alike to their natural teeth.

There are a big number of choices that dental houses offer. In our dental office in the decision-making of the best fillings to be used for our patients, we were led by these three basic principals:

QUALITY – high quality based on facts;
CERTAINTY – that we provide trough our dental work;
CONFIDENCE – which results from our gained experience.

We require this from the producers of dental materials, so we can give the same to our patients, which will recognize us by the same characteristics.

And that’s why we chose the aesthetic restorations that are no.1 in the world by their quality, and they are:
  • GC Gradia direct (GC Coropration)
  • Ceramic fillings – Composan ceram (Promedica, Germany)
These fillings allowed us to have artistic approach in the dealings with our patients, and we, as well as our patients, were amazed by the results.

Common characteristic of these fillings is: their high aesthetic; the ability to be used for all types of cavity; their perfect adhesion to tooth substance; excellent abrasion resistance; high translucency; perfect adaptation to natural tooth color i.e. they have so called “chameleon effect” to the neighboring teeth; high color stability (that means there are no changes in the color as time passes by); the softness of the material makes them easy to handle and that helps us in the modeling of masticator surfaces identical to those of the natural teeth; they have an excellent ability for postoperative processing, and are polished to extreme brilliance; great endurance to masticate pressure, resistance to splitting and braking; and also they are not toxic and they don’t have side effects on the human health.

In the photos below we present you with our dental practical work with the above mentioned materials (fillings) and we are sure that the pictures will speak more to you than our words:
